Message from Patrice S. Basille
This year has already been crowned with several successes. In February, our Executive Chef Michael Blackie earned a silver medal at the Gold Medal Plates Canadian Culinary Competition. Not only was he able to showcase his talent, which is regularly on display at our four-diamond Perspectives Restaurant, but he was also hailed as a “molecular wizard” by one of the judges for the use of “sheet sauce” and “foams” in his creations.
Shortly thereafter, our Casting [HR] Director Chantal Smitheram was recognized with the hotel Association of Canada’s Human Resources Award of Excellence. Chantal has introduced many unique initiatives to promote leadership, innovation and communication with the organization.
In March, I had the honour of accepting for the fourth consecutive year the CAA/AAA four-diamond award for both hotel and restaurant. Only 3% of the 60,000 establishments rated on a yearly basis receive a four-diamond rating and Brookstreet is still the only hotel in Ottawa with two four-diamond awards. Maintaining our four diamonds is the result of our Partners’ hard work – all those friendly faces you meet when you visit Brookstreet!
Thanks to the Ottawa Senators, we had the pleasure of being the Official Headquarter Hotel for the NHL during the Stanley Cup finals. We are also happy to welcome Dr. Sanouffi and his team to Brookstreet. La Vie Executive Health Centre at Brookstreet offers top-quality medical care to business executives.
Coming up is our 5th Annual Lumière Gala, this year in support of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Once again it promises to be a fabulous event with 11 food stations representing each province and the territories, live music, a live and silent auction for fantastic prizes and fireworks that will shoot even higher this year!
